Max Boas is an imaginative young painter who is focusing on urban scenes and contemporary portraits. boas was born in Jackson, mississippi in 1973, but grew up in New Orleans and Boulder, Colorado. After graduating from high school in Boulder he attnded Kansas City Art Institute for two years before moving on to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where he became an illustration major. At Art Center he found several exceptional instructors that he found particularly inspiring, including the figurative painter Scott Hess, portrait painter Mike Hussar and Peter Liashkov, who taught Design Composition and Painting. During the summer of 200 he went to the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy. Boas graduated in 2002 with a B.A. with an Honors Distinction.
