The lat Arny Karl's plein-air pastels reflected his great sensitivity to the natural environment. Karl was introduced to pastels by his teacher and mentor Theodore Lukits (1897-1992), and he relied on this unique medium for all of his plein-air work. We have a selection of Karl's pastels and a number of works in oil of many California and Southwestern subjects. From the late 1960s until his death, Karl was a dedicated outdoor painter and produced a body of work that has long been admired by artists and collectors.
