Ljubomir Popadic is an artistic storyteller from the tiny republic of Montenegro. In each of his works he
combines objects - and occasionally figures - to create
a visual narrative. The objects in the painting relate to
each other to tell a story, about a man from his village
who emigrated to America, about sailing, or the con-
cept of flight or cartography. Popadic will juxtapose
old faded photographs, household and exotic objects
and live subjects to create absolutely unique works
of art.
     Popadic grew up in Montenegro and graduated
from the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad in 1986,
where he studied with Jovan Rakidzic. He has exhib-
extensively in the former Yugoslavia, and since his
debut in 1987 has had fourteen solo exhibitions and
participated in dozens of group exhibitions. Popadic
is a member of the Association of Visual Artists of
Montenegro and is now expanding his horizons by
beginning to exhibit his work in California.
