Arny Karl was an extraordinary plein-air pastelist who had an unusual sensitivity to nature in its many guises. Karl was introduced to the pastel medium by his teacher and mentor Theodore Lukits (1897 - 1992). From the late 1960s to his untimely death in 2000, Karl produced an impressive body of work that never garnered the recognition it deserved. We are producing a modest retrospective of Karl's plaein-air pastels that depict nature at its most transitory and sublime moments.
