Apinchapong Yang is one of the premier Impressionist painters
in California. Although he is a quiet person, he is an emotional
artist and his work is painterly and expressive. Yang is a versatile
painter who is well known for his still lifes, landscapes and
figurative works. He is also a fine portrait painter who not
only enjoys the conventionally beautiful but also has an eye
for the unusual.
Born in Thailand, Yang came to
the United States in 1970 and eventually studied with the late
Russian master Sergei Bongart (1918-1985). He has exhibited
all over the United States and abroad, and had solo exhibitions
at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle in 1984 and again in 1991.
His work has been accorded many awards and honors and he is
a signature member of the California Art Club. |
